Annie Levay! Congratulations to Annie on winning family passes to the Buffalo Zoo!
For the past week, the GrowWNY team held our first Facebook Comment Contest. It was simple – we asked a question on our Facebook wall, fans replied in the comment section, and the comment with the most number of “likes” won a prize!
This week’s question was “What is your favorite animal in Western New York (WNY) and why?”
Annie’s comment, which received 9 likes by her Facebook friends, was:
“My favorite animal is the common bat. I've had one land on my shirt while biking through the city, rescued one from traffic at the Bidwell Farmer's Market, had a pair roost in my attic...I love that they snap up bugs and make the night life around here all that more interesting!”
Similar to Annie’s, our other fans comments were creative and even taught us a little something about the critters here in WNY!
Sara Johnson commented that the Red Fox is her favorite WNY animal because they’re “elusive and mysterious,” and that “in folklore, the aurora borealis were called ‘fox fires’ as if a fox spirit had ran through the sky, painting it with its tail, preparing the world for the first humans.”
Christina Love said her favorite WNY animal was either the Blackcapped Chickadee or the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, and she shared a fun video of a hummingbird eating right out of a man’s hand! Kimberly May commented that the Queen Snake is her favorite animal because they’re very rare and nearly endangered, while Leslie Misener chose the Grey Squirrel for their frequent funny and energetic appearances.
Once again, we would like to congratulate Annie on getting the most likes for her comment and winning family passes to the Buffalo Zoo. Annie has won her family free passes to visit a Western Lowland Gorilla, a two-toed sloth, and a Gila Monster! Annie, we hope you have a fantastic time at the Buffalo Zoo!
Thanks to everyone who played this week; it won’t be long before you’ll get to play for more prizes again! Check back next Wednesday on our Facebook Page for the start of the next GrowWNY Facebook Comment Contest.
