EVENT: Tour de Farms 2011

tour_de_farms_imageThe Massachusetts Avenue Project, Independent Health and Green Options Buffalo are proud to host the 3rd Annual Tour de Farms Cycling and local food event Saturday, September 17th, 2011.  Tour De Farms is a community bicycle ride in celebration of  WNY's local food system.  As part of the ride, you will visit local farms and experience Western New York's beautiful landscape and local bounty.  This year's ride is approximately 30 miles and will end with a celebration at the Oles's Farm in Alden NY.  Outer Circle Orchestra will be our musical guests again this year!

The Tour de Farms ride will begin at Buffalo State College's M Lot, located on Grant Street near Letchworth Avenue in Buffalo.  Check in begins at 7:30 am on September 17th and the ride starts at 9:00 am.  Registration is required and can be done at www.mass-ave.org, by mail or in person at our pre-ride event: Tune Up for Tour de Farms (details about the pre-ride event are below).

Tune Up for Tour de Farms!

Come tune up your bike for the 2011 Tour de Farms ride at Green Options Buffalo’s Community Bicycle Workshop (at 98 Colvin Avenue).  From 7 pm to 9 pm on September 16th, Tour de Farms riders are invited to tune up their bikes with Green Options Buffalo’s mechanics and trained volunteers.  Flying Bison Brewing Company’s Rusty Chain draft will be on hand and rider registration and early check in will be taking place.  For some, this pre-ride tune-up has become as much of a tradition as the ride itself, and is an opportunity to meet some of your fellow riders before you hit the pavement.
