Join the Western New York Sustainable Energy Association at Hallwalls on November 1, 2011 at 7pm for Urbanism is Sustainable, a forum with speakers Chris Hawley and Chuck Banas.
Urbanism is Sustainable will discuss the new Buffalo zoning code and why it will help lead Buffalo to become a more sustainable 21st century city. Chris Hawley, a dynamic urban planner will explain the importance of mixed use, walkable development and the policies Buffalo will be implementing to promote a sustainable future. Chuck Banas, a activist and secret urban planner will teach the idea of urbanism and how Buffalo deserves to have a smart, sustainable and sexy land use plan .
We at the Western New York Sustainable Energy Association recognize that without good land use planning, we will continue to create sprawling areas that make us rely on automobiles for transportation. As we enter the new age of sustainable, green practices, it is important to address the way we plan our cities to create a more urban, mixed use environment which will help to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide entering our environment. We commend the City of Buffalo for promoting such a progressive plan and we know that this plan will help drive the green economy of the 21st century.
This forum is the first of a monthly “sustainable series” which aims to promote all things that lead us towards a sustainable future.
