Guided Outdoor Recreation

Arguably one of the single, most environmental things you can do to get involved is to go outside!  It's green to identify with the land you live on, love your local habitat, and use your parks and waters for recreation.

For guided outdoor recreation, read on...  There are plenty of people and organizations who take others to enjoy the great outdoors!

Guided Bird Walk

Pfeiffer Nature Center, Eshelman Property, 1420 Yubadam Rd., Portville. 8am sharp. Volunteers from the Cattaraugus County Bird Study Club will be leading the popular and informative free guided bird walks on Pfeiffer Nature Center's Eshelman Property every Saturday in May. The walks start promptly at 8 AM with a brief introduction to birding followed by a 1-2 hour walk along grassy level trails through wetlands and shrubby areas home to many migratory songbirds and waterfowl. Participants should dress for the weather. There are a few creek crossings so boots would be appropriate. It is helpful to bring binoculars and your favorite bird guide. Many people bring a small notebook to record sightings and tips. The program is free and no preregistration is required. If you miss the start of the walk, you may quietly join the group as it progresses. The program is not suited for young children. No pets please.

For more information, please call the nature center at 716-933-0187 or write naturalist@pfeiffernaturecenter.org.
