Grants and Training Opportunities

The Bikes Belong Grant Program strives to put more people on bicycles more often by funding important and influential projects that leverage federal funding and build momentum for bicycling in communities across the U.S.  These projects include bike paths and rail trails, as well as mountain bike trails, bike parks, BMX facilities, and large-scale bicycle advocacy initiatives.

Are you looking for a creative and supportive space, to base or launch a business, social venture, or not-for-profit?  Action HQ, located on Jefferson Avenue, on Buffalo's East Side, is a collective of social ventures, innovative individuals, and folks committed to driving positive social change through work in the community.

We are looking to identify individuals and organizations interested in... an intentional and collaborative community workspace.  The space is under development, which means you can participate actively in creating a space that supports your style and interests.  We envision a variety of individual offices and work spaces, with shared access to conference rooms, small meeting rooms, and a community kitchen.  Tenants would also share technology when feasible (internet, copy machines, etc), utilities, and rent expenses.  If you have an idea, a project in progress, or you just need a space to conduct business on a day-to-day basis, give us a call.

Are you working to start a community action project or program? Do you need money to put your ideas into action? If you answered, "YES!", you are eligible to apply for a Do Something Seed Grant. A $500 Do Something Seed Grant is given out every week to help young people (25 or under) get their ideas off the ground.

The RETScreen Clean Energy Project Analysis Software is a unique decision support tool developed with the contribution of numerous experts from government, industry, and academia.  The software, provided free-of-charge, can be used worldwide to evaluate the energy production and savings, costs, emission reductions, financial viability and risk for various types of Renewable-energy and Energy-efficient Technologies (RETs). The software (available in multiple languages) also includes product, project, hydrology and climate databases, a detailed user manual, and a case study based college/university-level training course, including an engineering e-textbook.

The Kresge Foundation healthy envrionments program seeks to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable children from low-income families by making the places they live, learn, work, and play safe and supportive of overall good health.  Preliminary applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for Cleaner freight transport and Environmental health and justice initiatives.
