Social Media Meet-Up for the Buffalo Green Code

Email Print PDF

Have you heard that Buffalo is implementing a new zoning code for the city that will affect how land will be used throughout the city and the economic development of our neighborhoods? This new code is called the Buffalo Green Code. Our city’s current zoning code is outdated, and city residents have an extremely rare (the last one was 50 years ago…) opportunity to participate in this process to revitalize our city.

In the next few weeks, there will be a series of workshops throughout different neighborhoods in Buffalo to gather public input. We need your help getting as many people out as possible to participate in these meetings. Together we can recreate our city!

GrowWNY is hosting a Social Media Meet-Up for the Buffalo Green Code to work on improving online outreach using Facebook, Twitter, and the GrowWNY website. We would love to have the GrowWNY community, community groups, individuals working to revitalize their neighborhoods, social media gurus, and everyone else participate!

JOIN US: Wednesday February 23rd between 4-7pm at Merge Restaurant at 439 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo.

Will you be mine, Eco-Valentine?

Will You Be Mine, Eco-Valentine??
February 14th is the day to show your sweetheart how much you care about them. This Valentine’s Day make sure to say I love you, but I also love the planet! Here are some romantic last-minute ideas that will show how much you care about them by thinking of the planet that they live on!! If you’re special someone is anything like us, they will fall head over heels for you!! <3333
1.Take a romantic walk in the park or through the woods.
2.Build an igloo together and get inside!
3.Turn the lights off, light some soy candles, and cuddle up under a warm wool blanket to “save energy” ;)
4.Get creative – make a gift from household items rather than buying something with a big carbon footprint. Why not make a Valentine’s Day card from recycled scrap paper and cut outs from old magazines??
5.If you do go to the store, buy local! Check out Buffalo First to find out where any of the hundreds of locally owned businesses in Buffalo are at. Maybe a nice knitted hat and scarf?? It’s still pretty cold outside!
6.Loca-Love!! There are great wine’s and cheeses made right here in our region if you are looking to stay in, or head to a restaurant that serves up local foods
Got any more romantic ideas?? Share in the comment box below.
