Green Options Buffalo

GO Bike staff will be hosting a workshop introducing people to commuting by bicycle.  Topics include equipment and maintenance, cycling law and cyclists’ rights, wardrobe choices and roadside repair.  In addition, workshop attendees will receive a commuter tool kit.  This kit contains commuting essentials including but not limited to a helmet, patch kit, light set, adjustable wrench and bell.

For less than the cost of a tank of gas, our knowledgeable staff will put you on the path towards occupying your proper place in the street.

GO Bike staff will be assisting bicyclists, checking bikes and providing light tune-ups for riders getting ready for Bike to Work Week at the GO Bike Community Workshop, located at 98 Colvin Ave (at the corner of Linden).  The shop—which is normally only open to GO Bike members—will be open to the public for this event.

  • Door to door cold-calling and follow-up house visits in the Fruit Belt and Allentown neighborhoods
  • Gather information re: residents’ current transportation habits and routines
  • Share information with residents about available sustainable transportation options

Complete Streets Are Better for Everyone

bike_lane_little_2In this next part of our Earth Week series, we explore biking, carpooling, car sharing, and public transit in "Transportation - Advancing alternatives to driving alone."  In this article, Susan Miller of Healthy Kids Healthy Communities Buffalo, encourages everyone to come to the free and open Complete Streets Summit Public Forum on Thursday, April 19.

According to the Complete Streets Coalition website, “Instituting a complete streets policy ensures that transportation planners and engineers consistently design and operate the entire roadway with all users in mind, including bicyclists, public transportation vehicles and riders, and pedestrians of all ages and abilities."


The Buffalo Complete Streets Summit Public Forum will be held TODAY at Ashbury Hall, April 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.

Buffalo, Erie County and New York State have all recently adopted Complete Streets policies.  The City of Buffalo is in the process of overhauling its land use plan and 60 year-old zoning ordinance.  It is a pivotal time for Buffalo, and a great opportunity to move towards improving our roadways and the fabric of our communities for all users.

How National Best Practices Can Influence the Buffalo Streetscape

Buffalo's Complete Street Summit is happening on Thursday, April 19 at Asbury Hall and you are invited!

Free and open to the public, the summit is designed to recognize that transportation is an urgent issue that impacts the prosperity, healthy and livability of the entire Greater Buffalo region.

The Complete Streets Summit is a two-day symposium highlighting the role of Complete Streets in promoting sustainability and economic development in the city of Buffalo and its surrounding regions.  The implementation of Complete Streets policies ensure that communities will continue to evolve and develop in sustainable ways and create opportunities for all transportation modes--by car, bike, transit, or our own two feet.
