Buffalo-Niagara RIVERKEEPER

This is a 2-plex Instructor Certification Workshop (ICW) Canoe and Kayak Level 1 Instructor Certification.  (An ICW consists of an IDW – Instructor Development Workshop and an ICE – Instructor Certification Exam – total of 22 to 24 hours).  This is a three craft certification – tandem canoe, solo canoe, and kayak.

A participant may earn certification in one, two or all three craft, but must be present for all three days.  Certification is not guaranteed through attendance only; the certification exam must be passed by a demonstration of both knowledge and skills.  The exam consists of a written portion and a skills demonstration portion.

Meet:

June 29 & 30 meet at shelter 4b in area 4 of Beaver Island. July 1 (exam) meet at the south end of Marina North shelter.

Fee:

$275 per participant (includes all sessions, ACA fees, and required materials/books).

Other Information:

Riverkeeper will provide all canoes, kayaks, and life vests.  Please wear appropriate clothing in preparation for rain, wind, and being in water.  Please bring a lunch and water/drink, and provide your own transportation to Beaver Island.  Space is limited.

It’s finally here!  The planting season has arrived.  It’s going to be a busy next couple of months for RestoreCorps and we are going to need your help.

Here is our planting schedule for May and June so far:

  • Fontana Boathouse –Saturday, June 16, 9 a.m. to noon
  • Forest Lawn Cemetary –Saturday, June 23, 9 a.m. to noon

We will need a few people at each of these events so please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested.
