Please join us to harvest garlic scapes & learn about growing garlic!
The garlic scape is the flowering stem that grows from the bulb in the spring. It is tall and green with a corkscrew end. We remove this stem to focus all the growing energy on the bulb itself. These stems, when picked early, are a tender treat to garlic lovers. They posess a mild garlic flavor and a texture much like green onions.
We are looking for volunteers to spend an hour or two in our garlic field to help pick the scapes. Our field is 44,000 bulbs strong, so there is plenty of work to do! Volunteers are welcome during regular business hours - Wednesday - Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
